Review:

Elizabeth Coatsworth is one of my family’s favorite authors. Alice-all-by-Herself is filled with clever writing and beautiful descriptions of nature like the other books by Coatsworth. This book tells the story of 10-year-old Alice, who lives in Damariscotta, Maine, and her family. Anyone who likes Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House series will love reading about Alice’s adventures ice fishing, going to the circus, befriending a Passamaquoddy Indian, and carving a present for her mother. Her kind, loving family and her delightful everyday adventures make this a book that girls will especially enjoy. The book, at the time of this review, was out of print but available to buy as a used book on Amazon.com. Many libraries also have this book.
