While strolling the beach, Juma and Babu Ali find some colorful fish washed up on shore. Upon getting closer, their excitement is dampened as they realize the “fish” are actually washed up plastic flip flops. Juma and Babu want to make a difference with all the trash on their beach. They are determined not only to make the beach beautiful again but also to help the wildlife in the ocean. Juma and Babu decide to collect the plastic, melt it, and make a boat! When word gets around Lamu Island, everyone shows up to help.

This is a beautiful book about a community coming together to make a difference. It is a must-read based on a true story!
