Hidden Riches

Review:

In Hidden Riches readers meet Christian Burkholder and his family, who live in Germany and are known as “Swissers,” or Mennonites. Christian’s parents make plans for the family to go to Pennsylvania so they can be free to worship as they wish. Unfortunately, Christian, Sr. passes away before their journey begins. On his deathbed he makes his wife promise to take the children as planned. So starts the very long, hard journey full of trials and worries.

I enjoyed the descriptive writing and the scripture references throughout the book as the Burkholder family holds strong to their faith. Based on a true story, this is one book I would definitely keep in my home library. This book gives a good look at what others were willing to do for freedom. It has brought great reflection to me upon finishing.

There are some heavy topics that might be difficult for sensitive readers, such as Mennonites being burned at the stake and beheaded, but these instances do not go into any overly graphic detail.
