Review:

Augustus Jackson grew up in a poor family. Although they didn’t have much, Augustus loved to help his mother cook. At 12 years old, he realized his passion was cooking, which led him to apply for a job at the White House. When Augustus learned to make ice cream, he wanted everyone to be able to enjoy this new sweet treat. Join Augustus as he moves home, opens an ice cream shop, and brings joy to others.

This book was truly inspiring! Augustus is a good example of someone who didn’t have much but who worked hard toward his goals. He knew what he wanted and went for it even though there weren’t many opportunities for African Americans during that time period. I highly recommend this book!
