Katya and the Silver Cross by Myrna Grant is an inspiring story of one girl’s commitment to truth and steadfastness in her beliefs. Being a Christian in Cold War Russia is no easy task. Constantly facing the threat of persecution and imprisonment, Katya and her family stay strong in their faith but try to act wisely to protect their safety. When Katya gets a new teacher who seems to be open minded and curious about Katya’s beliefs, Katya takes big risks to share her faith and fight for truth. This book deals with heavy themes of religious freedom, persecution, communism, and threat of imprisonment or work camps, but it is a beautiful story of what can happen when we share our faith in God with others.
