During her own lifetime, author Frances Hodgson Burnett was best known for her book Little Lord Fauntleroy, but you might be more familiar with her book The Secret Garden. In her hugely popular book Little Lord Fauntleroy, a crusty English Earl is transformed through the innocence and kindness of a young, poor boy from New York City during the late 1800s. This book’s rich vocabulary, endearing characters, interesting plot, and powerful message make it one of my top picks.
