Louder Than Words
This beautiful story is based on the heroic actions of Ludviga Pukas, a Christian woman who worked as a housekeeper for a Jewish family in Ukraine and risked her life for them during WWII. While this book has a slower pace than some other WWII books I have read, I still found it a worthwhile read. The characters are all well developed and relatable, especially the main character, 12-year-old Dina, who shows incredible courage and love. This book is a great option for sensitive readers, as it depicts very little violence compared to other books about WWII. The ending is a little bit sad, but it focuses on the good and is not overly depressing.
