Review:

David Macaulay is an award-winning author and illustrator whose books have sold millions of copies. This is a fantastic educational book, but it is not the most interesting book by Macaulay. The descriptions are sometimes technical, but the elevated language and challenging concepts are good for the mind, and the wonderful illustrations are helpful in visualizing how things work.
