Van Amsterdam is an amazing baker. When he becomes famous for his St. Nicholas cookies, people come from all around the town to try his cookies! Van receives so much praise he realizes that if he lowers the quality of the cookies, people most likely will not notice, and he can make more money. This plan quickly takes a turn for the worse when a woman comes in and Van shorts her a cookie in her dozen. His cookies, bread, and baked items all become sour until he learns to give a full baker’s dozen and turn his heart around.
I loved this book! It shows the reality of what money can do to a person and how hearts can be changed at the same time. This book has incredible morals!
