The Dragon’s Secret
The Dragon’s Secret is a wholesome, skillfully written mystery published in 1920. Sixteen-year-old Leslie Crane goes to visit her aunt at a quiet bungalow by the sea in New Jersey. Leslie is baffled when a metal box, decorated with an elaborately carved dragon, is dug up by her dog. She is also puzzled by a light she keeps seeing in the supposedly empty bungalow next door. While this book does not center around strong moral messages, it is clean, and respect, kindness, honesty, and generosity are promoted. I really enjoyed the book as an entertaining read that had great literary value.
