Review:

The Seventh One by Elizabeth Yates is a collection of stories about seven dogs who all influence one man and those in his life for good. As Tom Wilson grows from boy to man, he encounters different dogs throughout his years, who each give him love and a chance for growth and understanding. From the first to the seventh, Tom comes to sincerely love each dog with their varying personalities and enjoyment of life and also learns to “let [love] in, no matter how it comes or in what way.” I laughed, I mourned with Tom, and I marked multiple passages I wanted to write down.
