Santos is determined to design and build a balloon that will fly. Although he crashed into a tree on his first attempt, he did not give up. He began improving his ideas and tweaking his designs. After building many balloons that were each better than the last, he and his invention started to become famous. He was set on being the first person to pilot an airship around the Eiffel Tower and back to a club in less than thirty minutes and ultimately win the big money prize. Finally, on his sixth attempt to fly he achieved his lifelong goal. Santos is an excellent example of not becoming discouraged when something goes wrong, but instead, learning to benefit from mistakes.
