I really like this author and this series, and so do my daughters. The majority of this book focuses on the inspiring story of Abigail’s childhood in a fun, fictionalized way that still holds close to the facts about her life and time period. Forgiveness, manners, love of learning, hard work, perseverance, and good attitude are all emphasized. Jean Brown Wagoner is a great writer for this reading level, using just the right amount of varied vocabulary, description, and sentence structure, while still making the story very interesting for children.
