Review:

This sweet and funny book by the wonderful author Elizabeth Coatsworth was originally published in 1934. The book is a hidden treasure and absolutely delighted my girls. This book is set in the era shortly before the War of 1812 and is rich with details of life in early America. This book, about a girl named Sally who travels with her family to a new land, is the first in a series. We have only read and reviewed the first in the series, but all the books in the series (some are out of print but are available in libraries or to purchase used on Amazon.com or thriftbooks.com) are appropriate:

  • Away Goes Sally (#1)
  • Five Bushell Farm (#2)
  • The Fair American (#3)
  • The White Horse (#4)
  • The Wonderful Day (#5)
