Basher Five-Two is the heroic story of United States Air Force Captain Scott O’Grady and his harrowing account of being shot out of the sky in enemy territory and the will to survive. This story is filled with excitement and peril, resilience, hope, determination and even positive family dynamics. It would be especially wonderful for children who are interested in history or the military, specifically those who are reluctant readers, as the wording is concise and easy to understand but written in a way that older readers won’t feel talked down to.
Note: there is one very brief mention of suicide
