This touching story is narrated from the viewpoint of the horse Black Beauty, who is loved and later mistreated. This book teaches the value of hard work, high morals, and kindness to animals. However, the book is challenging to read and sad. Reluctant readers or readers not used to good literature may find the book too slow-paced and boring. I feel it is a worthwhile read, but there are many books I would suggest before this one.
