Duncan’s War

Review:

Duncan’s War follows a young Scottish Covenanter (a member of a religious movement that opposed the government church structure) who must learn how to love his enemy even while suffering persecution. Duncan displays great characteristics such as fierce loyalty, love of his faith, trust in God, devotion, and sacrifice. His relationship with his parents and siblings is very uplifting and endearing. The family’s solid Christian faith is displayed as they seek God’s guidance to direct their path in the civil war that is at hand. Wonderful vocabulary and descriptive text draws the reader into Duncan’s world. Readers will find themselves in moments of laughter and times of sadness. By the end of this book, readers’ hearts will be overflowing with happiness. This truly is a beautifully descriptive story that will teach not only history but also how letting God work through you even in times of hardships can result in His true love displayed.

This book contains some non-graphic descriptions of war and persecution that may be difficult for sensitive readers.
