Guardian Angel House

Review:

Guardian Angel House by Kathy Clark is a must read! It was so hard to put this book down. This wonderful story is based on two Jewish sisters’ real experiences during the Nazi invasion of Hungary on March 19, 1944. Susan and Vera were sent to a convent in Budapest. The Catholic nuns hid them and other Jewish children. While they were safe and protected, the children each had responsibilities and learned to trust the nuns as well as each other. There are heart wrenching experiences, and I felt many emotions while reading this book. I was easily captured by the descriptive and easy to understand writing style. There is, of course, sadness, due to the nature of the theme, but there are so many joyful moments that show that no matter where you are, you can always remember WHO you are and celebrate your background and heritage. This is a story of great love and sacrifice–especially from the nuns, who took these children in without question. I highly recommend this book for everyone, young and old. This is a book that will stay with me for quite a long time.
