Review:

If you were to have only one shelf of picture books in your house, I would recommend this one being on the shelf! The lovely story is beautifully written and full of great messages. The pictures are stunningly beautiful and full of great messages in and of themselves. This story of self-reliance, hard work, and family life in early America is longer and will best hold the attention of children seven or eight and older.
