Cornelia Meigs is one of my all-time favorite authors. This book is one of her masterpieces. The story follows five generations, with all stories masterfully interwoven and connected to Master Simon’s garden. The book starts with Master Simon, a Puritan who emigrated from England to early America and planted a beautiful garden. The reading is very challenging but extremely rewarding. Master Simon’s Garden has great messages, deeper and more complex than some of Meigs’ more lighthearted books. This book contains some wholesome, pure romance.
