First published in 1955, this mystery book is fun, clean, creative, and well written. Philippa Pearce is a fantastic writer, and the book is skillfully crafted with plot twists and engaging characters. While it is not the focus of the book, good values are promoted, such as avoiding greed and being a good friend. My 13-year-old daughter loved the book.
