Ring Out Bow Bells!
This book is a good example of not judging a book by its cover. The old, worn, out-of-print book sat on our shelf for years before we finally read it. We wished we hadn’t waited that long! Not only is the writing masterful, but the story is very engaging and features a well-developed cast of characters. Set in 1415 in London, the story follows a boy named Dickon who becomes apprenticed to Dick Whittington, a past mayor of London. The complex plot unfolds as Dickon accidentally becomes involved in the intriguing and mysterious events of the time period. We loved the entertainment value, educational value, and strong moral messages.
