Ruth Asawa: A Sculpting Life
Ruth grows up on a farm, in awe of the world around her. She learns to draw the beautiful things around her on the farm! Sadly, her family is suddenly sent to an internment camp after Japan bombs Pearl Harbor, making it harder for Ruth to draw. However, she does not give up. Ruth continues to draw and takes lessons while she is in the camp. Eventually, Ruth receives a visa to attend school but finds herself with a different life path. Ruth finds purpose in making art with her hands, learning to create wire sculptures. This book takes the reader into Ruth’s world, what she faced, and how she came out victorious in the end despite the odds.
