Review:

Based on a true story set during the American Revolution, this historical fiction book, first published in 1926, is a true treasure. The writing is masterful and interesting, and the characters are lovable. The official description reads: “Twins Sally and Roger are asked by their father, General Priestly, to help their mother hide a shipment of gold which will be used to pay the American soldiers.” The book promotes courage, strong families, loyalty, and patriotism. The story is so intriguing, children will hardly realize that they are learning much about the time period at the same time.
