The Crimson Patch

Review:

This book is gently paced but very interesting. The main character, Patricia, lives with her father in a hotel while he does secret military work. Her father is home from the war due to an injury. She is surrounded by mystery and intrigue because people are spying on her. She befriends a Belgium girl across the hall from her whose guardian turns out to be a German spy. The scarlet patch was actually a secret drawing of an invention that would drastically change the course of the war. When it goes missing, she embarks on a mission to find it and save her friend. The main themes are loyalty, honesty, and friendship.
