The Railway Children
The joy and importance of family are portrayed so beautifully in this classic book, written with E. Nesbit’s witty and fun way with words. Unexpectedly, Peter, Roberta, Phyllis, and their mother have to leave their comfortable life in London to go and live in a small cottage in the country after the children’s father is mysteriously taken away. I agree with a reviewer who wrote: “This book will transport readers back to a much simpler time—an era of true family values. Don’t expect the fantasy elements in this gentle story, just relax and enjoy a journey into the past, when children were taught to wait and hope.” (Please note: This is NOT the same book as The Boxcar Children.)
