Review:

This story, set in London in the 1700s, is based on a true story but contains fictional characters. The book is exciting and compelling and packed with educational value as it teaches about life in England during the historical time period, the English penal system and indentured servitude, the rivalry between Scotland and England, and the history of the Tower of London. The writing is really good, although the vocabulary is not as challenging as it could be. The book has good moral values, teaching about responsibility, friendship, family, and courage. This would be a good book for reluctant readers.
