The Silver Balloon by Susan Booners

The Silver Balloon

Review:

Gregory sends a silver balloon containing a message into the air, hoping someone will find it and write back to him. He is surprised when he receives a letter from a wheat farmer who found the balloon. The two start a letter correspondence and send each other “mystery gifts,” such as arrowheads and wasp nests. But then the farmer sends Gregory a mystery gift that neither of them can identify, and the librarian can’t help Gregory figure out the mystery gift this time. What is it, and how will Gregory find out? The writing and the story is pretty good but not fantastic. It is a short read that I think boys will like slightly more than girls.
