When I Was Your Age
This book is one of my and my daughter’s favorite books. Laura E. Richards was an incredibly gifted and moral writer born in 1850. She wrote over 90 books, including biographies, poetry, a compilation of short stories, and books of fiction. When I Was Your Age is an autobiography of her and her siblings’ childhood and has profound messages about love of freedom and liberty, courage, gratitude, a positive portrayal of and respect for family and parents, love of nature, patience, creativity, service, selflessness, humility, love of learning, and love of the Bible. The book is humorous, heartwarming, and engaging.
